The calm after yesterday's freak storm was appreciated this morning.
Raindrops decorating the plants glistening like diamonds as they twinkled in the sun. Arriving home from work yesterday to find the garden under water, the rain so heavy I was drenched in the few minutes it takes to open the gate. The chickens were drenched and under the patio seeking refuge. And I even had water coming into the cottage.
My normal hours drive home on a friday took a lot longer with roads covered with water making it dangerous to drive through as the rain lashed down and visibility low. Apparently a worse storm is set to hit on Monday, a severe weather warning in place already.
It is certainly lovely to get rain, especially after last years lack of it. However when storms cause as much damage as this one has it definitely takes the joy out of rain for those who have been affected by the flooding.
Today I shall enjoy the calm sunny day and give gratitude for not having as much damage as others.....
