Clearing Out....

Clearing out my wardrobes yesterday but realising even after throwing so much onto the charity shop pile I still have too many clothes.
Still, five large bags were filled with clothes, shoes and a couple of bags and hopefully someone else will be able to get a bit more use out of them.
Decluttering is always an experience where I feel a lightness engulf me, the shedding process so important in our lives.
As a species we tend to hoard and hang on to things. We give value to things, be it a piece of clothing or some other object, but at the end of the day it is really just stuff.
And in the grand scheme of things stuff regardless of how much it may have cost, really is just that, stuff......

Having A Day Of Gratitude........

Having a day of gratitude and feeling blessed for all that I have especially when there is so much devastation going on out in the world.
This morning I found it really humbling to be waking up to a crisp autumn breeze blowing in my lovely garden, surrounded by the miracle of life.

Things can change so swiftly and if any of us have learnt anything these past couple of years it should be how life as we  knew it can simply ceased to be in a matter of hours.

The importance of making each day count somehow needs to become a priority.
To really connect in to all interactions we have, and whether or not they fulfill our souls, our hearts. Are they uplifting? Do they bring us joy?
 We need to be kind.
We need to be generous.
We need to be compassionate.
We need to stop labeling people.
To stop laying blame guilt or judgements on others.
Because in doing that then the present is never fully lived in.
We need to love.
Love ourselves, each other and this beautiful planet we All reside upon......

Rufous Whistler Singing ( Pachycephala rufiventris ) HD Video Clip 1 / 1

The new bird I discovered in the garden Friday has been identified, it is a rufous whistler. This was the birdsong I had heard in the garden before seeing the bird itself.
Such a beautiful melody to have drifting into my home....

Proud To Introduce..........

Proud to introduce these guinea fowl chicks who have forever homes with one of my friends.
Over the past few weeks I have seen pictures and videos of them, today I was delighted to finally meet them.

I haven't really had a lot of interactions with guinea fowl before but having heard about their antics and cheekiness I knew that I was going to fall in love with them immediately.
And fall in love I did!
They are so adorable very funny and extremely vocal.
What I found the most endearing though was how the five of them would run after their human mum all the while chittering to each other. They tend to scurry in a line although, should a danger present itself, say like a line of shadow they would huddle together having a little conversation. Obliviously this was a debate of whether or not to cross and follow their human. After a time and a little encouragement they decided it was safe and ran to keep up to the disappearing human. They are so trusting and very connected to their human, it was very apparent the bond that they have already with their caregiver.

They are little more picker than chickens in regards to seed and scraps, yet are equally useful in the garden for keeping pests at bay. Also very helpful in keeping the salad greens and vegetables in check and exploring anything and everything.

Guinea fowl are the oldest of the galliforme birds, or ground feeders. They are somewhat prehistoric in appearance, yet I found this added to their unique beauty. They were quite shy in some regards yet rather nosey in others. Like geese they tend to make a kerfuffle if something new appears sending out calls of alert. And I must admit this made me laugh, because when all five callout they really make a racket!
They still have a lot of growing to do as they get around the size of a turkey, at the moment they are more the size of chicken. Each day they are becoming more confident and wandering a little further. I look forward to seeing them again and enjoying watching them as they explore their realm......
