When Broccoli....

When broccoli is on my plate Miss Bear will not leave me alone until she has had several pieces to nibble on. She will purr extremely loudly, reach out very gently and tap me just in case I forgot she is there. Mostly gets very big wide eyes as she pleads for her favourite treat.
She has always loved broccoli. And has been known to steal it off an unsuspecting visitors plate. Reaching up with a paw and dragging it from their plate, hopefully before they see her.
Maybe her mother ate it? Because I have never had another cat who eats vegetables.
Why she likes it I don't really know, she can smell it as soon as it is cooking and hangs around the kitchen in anticipation. She won't eat it raw, but will eat it even if it has been cooked in a sauce.

Such an individual is my Miss Bear.....

With Showers Easing....

With showers easing I headed outside with my camera for a walk around the garden, to discover my battery needs recharging. So not a lot of photos were taken.
The wax flowers are beginning to open, they normally open late winter to spring, given the weather has been haywire they are beginning to flower now. I have five varieties of wax flowers all varying shades of pink.

Happy to see feathers growing on Aslan's head. He should be back to his handsome self in no time now.

My red hakea is beginning to flower. The flowers grow on the old wood and appear to creep along the branch. There are so many more flowers this year than last year. The rosemary is in bloom and enticing in the blue bees I trust. And my mini flower meadow in the raised garden bed has sprouts all over. I have no idea how this will look as I have several packets of seeds all planted randomly. I am looking forward to seeing what the end result is. The idea was to get in more pollinators, perhaps I may discover some new insects when this is in flower.

The mulberry tree can't decide whether to shed its leaves or fruit. The pond plants are spreading and giving coverage to the frogs. The white kangaroo paw is still slowly unfolding, looking forward to this first flower as not seen one before.

Tiny Pearl was having a few quiet moments before bed and a pair of galahs are allowing me to get quite close now. Love how wild birds begin to accept you once you pose no threat.
Gardens truly are magical.......

Time For A Snooze...

Time for a snooze after the ordeal of the vacuum cleaner this morning.
Disappearing from view and sometimes hiding that well I can't even find them when the vacuum appears.
They soon sneak out very slowly once the horrid vacuum has been put away.
The fire going and the cottage cosy warm, Charlie and Nala settling down of the settee.
Miss Bear decided to go and relax in the spare room. Spending time alone and watching the birds as they flit about in between showers.....

A Bowl Of....

A bowl of nourishing curried vegetables topped with homegrown sprouts.
Delicious I must say and so warming on this cold rainy day.
Alternating seeds that I sprout this week I have kale and mung beans. Mung beans are my favourites and I like to eat them even before they have completed sprouting.
Soaking for next week chickpeas and red clover......

Nearly In.....

Nearly in full bloom.
And beautiful it is too.
My false christmas cactus looking stunning covered in raindrops this morning.
It really likes this new position under the patio and has flowered like it never has before. Clearly thriving it will remain where it is from now on....

Noticing The Resident......

Noticing the resident raven's chasing something I stopped the housework to see what was going.

Catching a glimpse of the newest visitors to the garden, finally!
A pair of grey currawongs.
Earlier in the year I had noticed a new bird in the garden. And a few times I had caught a flash of one of these flying away.
Today hidden in the cottage I could get a good look at them.
Larger than the ravens, although seemingly more timid. The ravens do not seem to wish to share the leftovers from the chickens breakfast and kept running after the currawongs. The currawongs hiding up in the branches waiting to try again when the coast was clear.

The smaller nesting birds in the garden will need to be aware of these two though. So too will any mice and frogs living in the garden as these birds tend to eat just about anything including eggs, seeds, insects and fruits.....
