Kings Park..

Kings Park is a place I rarely visit as it is located just west of the city of Perth. I am not fond of the suburbs, let alone the city. Wide open spaces and a never-ending vista of trees is more to my liking than endless visions of rooftops and skyscrapers, so I do not come this way often.

I had planned on visiting the botanical gardens in the park mid-September to see the fabulous show of wildflowers that are cultivated here, unfortunately it was so busy I couldn't find a place to park. So, it was late October I ventured back. They have cleverly planted sections that have plants from all areas of Western Australia, it is here you can get a tiny glimpse of the magnificent flower show that each spring brings to the state.

By this time of the year most of the wildflowers have finished blooming, some though were still budding up, whilst others were beginning to go to seed. This part of Kings Park is my favourite section, although I did discover a new garden with plants from Queensland which I had not seen in prior visits. In this section they have erected secluded little platforms hidden amongst the foliage to sit quietly and take in the view.

Making my way up to the display of kangaroo paws I passed the water garden which is always a peaceful place. Many of the kangaroo paws were still offering a striking display. I do love these plants; they are so tactile as well as uniquely beautiful.

Heading out of the park I noticed a few trails that I had not seen in prior visits so I may come back to explore these on another day...
