A Collared Sparrowhawk...

A collared sparrowhawk I glimpsed in a quiet corner of the garden. It was resting after nearly knocking itself out on the side of the cottage in pursuit of a smaller bird.
It flew off shortly after I took these photos so it had no serious injury.
Recently I have heard an unfamiliar call from predator birds at different times during the day. Today I realised it is a family of collared sparrowhawks that are communicating as they set out to hunt. Quite an intense looking chap and lethal for the smaller gentler birds......
