I'm Going...

Invaded By...

Invaded by a huge flock of rose-chested cockatoos yesterday afternoon, I had to sneak the chickens feeder to a secluded place so that the hungry horde wouldn't eat it all.
In amongst the first photo is one of the bunnies, brave little soul that it is. My chickens really struggle when this group descends into the garden.
Try as I might to dissuade this massive flock from coming into the garden, nothing works as they have a sentry in the tree who makes a call as soon as I head to the feed bucket in the afternoon.
Thankfully, this is only a seasonal occurrence, and although they are noisy and eat such a lot. It is also humbling that they find my garden safe enough to come to...

The Village Art Gallery...

The Village Art Gallery at Whiteman Park is always an interesting place to visit. With several artists displaying their works here there's always something new on show...

Piesse Brook...

Piesse Brook is located in Kalamunda Regional park, the highlight of the park is the impressive Rocky Pool.  I have been here many times, yet yesterday was the first time that I actually made it all the way to the tranquil Rocky Pool. A stunning oasis surrounded by gigantic ancient granite. It was a very serene place to sit alone and enjoy the ambience as the gentle winter sunshine warmed me.

Seeing that I arrived fairly early, the light wasn't at its best for many of the early photos. The sun was rising and the valley was still shrouded in shadows. This did not deter me and off I set of on a four hour meander to explore and enjoy the wonders of the Australian bush.

Although this is a favourite place, I never tire of visiting, because there are always subtle changes that occur day to day. Light captures things differently depending on the weather. Storms too can alter the scenes that are so familiar to me. Yesterday I went off the track a few times, given it was fairly brisk, it was doubtful any snakes would be out and about. Plus I had my wellington boots on so I felt secure in doing a bit of off track exploring.

Given that we still haven't had a lot of rain, the brook was running, yet still fairly low. I was impressed to see Rocky Pool full of water, I will return in a month or two after we've had more rain, as there will be more small waterfalls running by then.

I did hear so many birds, and saw plenty of the tiny ones flitting about in the understory, yet only managed to photograph  a few.
The colours of the bushland varies in the differing light of the morning, when the sun finally illuminated the land, the hues of the foliage changed yet again...
