Happy Chickens.......

Happy chickens just doing their thing.
Having had fun chasing me around the garden while I was weeding and pruning they all began to settle down for a bit of a rest waiting for the next spot of weeding and digging to begin.
Such gentle social beings, always inquisitive and often getting in the way when I pottering in the garden on the look out for any worms or bugs that I may disturb.
Can't imagine my garden without the gentle energy of the chickens, for such little creatures they certainly fill the garden with their quirky curious energy.....

The Unfolding.....

The unfolding of hakea flowers on one of the hakea trees which is it's first flowering season, while another is flowering for the second time and some of it's blooms already dying off.
Always an exciting time to see the blooms unfolding, especially when a tree is flowering for the first time, there is something so magical about watching nature doing her thing.
Never is a garden more joyous to be in than when the flowers begin to brighten the garden with their presence.
Life is such a precious gift.
Each moment out in nature inspiring and healing, with new flowers gracing the garden with their appearance new honeyeaters have also begun to visit the garden.
Life attracts life.......

The Girls....

The girls have decided that this pile of foliage is the perfect place for a nest!
A feathery bottom was seen disappearing into the cave of leaves as Aslan stood guard on the outside cooing to his ladies as they took turns in laying this morning.
I am thinking perhaps they might like a permanent little cave like structure built for the privacy of egg laying.....

Charlie Sleeps.....

Charlie sleeps in the strangest positions, many like this one do not look the least bit comfortable.
Such a funny little cat.....

A Day In The Garden.....

A day in the garden yesterday trimming back a lot of the dead branches from the plants that really struggled to survive the extremely long and hot summer we had this year.
Finally the days are cool enough to be out in the garden for a whole day as autumn slowly settles in.
Always so grounding and calming being out in the garden and getting my hands in the earth, no gloves in between me and the soil.
Starting at the front gate and I will work my way around the whole garden over the coming weekends, trimming and weeding and tidying up after the chicken folk as they turn the soil over looking for bugs to eat, digging little burrows for a dust bath here and there and sometimes making little nests hidden underneath the bushiest parts of the garden.

A few people that I know keep saying that the chickens should stay in their run as they find the mess that they make a bit much to deal with seeing, their own gardens are very organised and super tidy.
I don't see the point in confining the chickens, they are locked up at night obviously, but during the day they have the run of the garden, I find their presence in the garden brings me a lot of joy, their antics often cause me to laugh, especially when I let them out in the mornings and the six of them all run off in six different directions as another day begins.
Nova the newest and youngest of the flock is the most comical chicken I have had, I often find her up a tree or standing on top of one of the wood sculptures in the garden which is actually nearly as tall as I am, not sure how she gets up there, and she always does so when I don't have my camera with me. She is one wacky little chicken for sure.
They need to be free to explore and run, not kept locked away to dig in the same spot over and over.

With today being a public holiday I have the luxury of another day at home, another day of pottering about in my private healing oasis........

Another Morning......

Another morning creating in the kitchen, this time some hummus.
This one is a friends recipe he has experimented and tweaked it over the years and I have to say that I am really glad to now have the recipe myself it is always a highlight of visiting him and sitting down to share this delicious dip with some sticks of red capsicum and celery, or spreading it on a rice cracker.
I actually like adding to a baked jacket potato as well.

Another really quick and easy recipe.

4-6 ripe avocados
2 cups of cooked chickpeas
Approximately 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tbsps of tahini
1/2 to 1/4 cup of olive oil
2 tsps sea salt
1 medium fresh chilli
Lots of garlic, at least 6 big cloves
2 tsps of cumin powder
1tsp of coriander powder or a handful of fresh coriander

Place everything into a food processor, put the lid on and start blending.
So simple.

Some tips, if you want a thick blend add more tahini.
If a thinner blend is more your thing add more lemon juice.
And for a creamier blend more olive oil......

There Is Something......

There is something ever so special of starting the day with this little orange fur ball warming himself by my legs when I open my eyes each and every morning.

His purring resonates deep within, the steady hum of his purring flows, a warming vibration which finds it's way through the bed covers and into my own body, a soothing hug as I wake.

His quiet calm turns to excitement once he realises that I have woken, then starts the playing and the smooching.

Time for another day to begin.............

Home Made...

Home made guacamole.
In a word.
Yum!

1 tbsp of olive oil
1-2 tsps of cumin powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon powder

4 gloves of garlic
2 tsps sea salt

Place everything in a food processor and blend away.......

A Very Happy Charlie...

A very happy Charlie discovered that these funny smelling balls when pushed from a height are actually really yummy....

My Greatest Joy......

My greatest joy comes from those who do not speak.

Love so pure radiates from these precious beings that sometimes I fear that my heart may explode with the depth of these feelings I have for the fur people in my life, past and present.

In their silence they ooze affection, they calm and uplift me, they love on a level I have yet to experience with a human,a love where no words are required, no conditions are given, no expectations are sought.
It is simply felt from one heart to another.

For those who have never shared their life with an animal companion you will never know the depths of such a bond.

For those of you who treat these precious beings with cruelty and pain, who do not take the time to still yourself to meet their heart, I pity you for your ignorance and send healing and love the animals who are hurt, tortured and neglected by such barbaric humans.

Humanity has as a whole has lost it's way as the disconnection from other species and the planet Herself has created a race of people who only feel joy from things.

Things that cannot return any emotion, shoes, houses, money, clothes, cars, computers, phones the list goes on and on of what millions state brings them happiness and joy things they love and can't live without.

Shallow love from people lost in a "culture" void of any true connection to the true Self or to Life.

I am blessed to have shared my life with many beautiful animal companions, all so uniquely different, all one of a kind.
Each valued and seen for who they were and for what they brought into my life.
They are irreplaceable.
They are missed.
They are loved.......

Visiting A...

Visiting a friend who is house-sitting I burst out laughing when I saw this in the pizza oven as I passed it by.

Laughter is the best medicine of all............

Joondalup Lake....

Joondalup Lake was a hive of activity with bird life absolutely everywhere I looked yesterday as I enjoyed a leisurely lunch and then a walk part way around the lake.

The last time I visited here a few months ago there was no bird life seen on or around the lake, which left me feeling extremely sad.

Yesterday though it was heaving with bird life from the large group of ducks that surrounded my blanket as I ate, to the lake itself busy with water birds of all sizes out enjoying the warm afternoon, perhaps like me wishing the rain held in the clouds would finally fall.
Mainly I was so excited to see so many black swans, in all my travels I seldom see many if any black swans anywhere on the rivers and lakes I visit, the most I had seen recently were eight on the Swan river near the city, today though I lost count of how many I could see from the shore to way out in the middle of the lake.
The bush land surrounding the lake was very dry given the very long summer we have endured here, many trees had died and the normally bushy under canopy was very sparse.
Yet as always I found lots that captivated me, and was particularly intrigued by a dead branch I saw that had grown through another tree, trapped there long after the tree it had grown from was long gone and in pieces laying on the ground.
The best blessing of all was the amount of fairy wrens heard singing and zipping through the trees, they are really difficult to photograph as they rarely stay put in one place for too long.
So was happy to get a couple of shots of those.

The eternal miraculous dance of life, ever beautiful, ever inspiring........
