Family living alone on a Remote Island

Another Afternoon...

Another afternoon spent in the garden, camera in hand watching the pink and grey galahs as they finish their day off nibbling on the acacia seed pods in the garden.
The are a loud bunch, squawking frequently.
I really enjoy watching them, the way they use their feet to hold the seed pods, using them like hands as they eat.
To me they always seem to have a sparkle in their eyes and a smile on their beaks.
They really have a light happy energy about them and often they can be seen hanging upside down on a branch clowning around.
Many people here in Western Australia don't like them in their gardens because of the mess they make.
Scattered on the ground are thousands of seed pods, but as I see it, they are simply doing as nature intended, they are fed and the empty seed pods turn to mulch.
The cycle of life in action.
I also got a single shot of a tiny honey eater high up in my gumtree, well hidden, taking a short breather for a few minutes. The honeyeaters are perhaps one of the hardest of the birds coming to the garden to photograph as they rarely stay still.
Towards the end of the afternoon as evening began to descend and night drawing closer a group of corellas joined the galahs in their feast.
Corellas and the pink and grey galahs will often be seen together, sometimes a lone corella takes up residence with a family of galahs.
The corellas are a lot noisier than the galahs, they will often squawk at me as I walk around the garden, wings out as they do their best to appear intimidating trying to look threatening.
I normally smile at them as they do look rather comical, not threatening at all.
This evening though they were happy to eat, no squabbling just lots of crackling to be heard as they broke apart the seed pods to eat the tasty seeds within.....

From This....

From this once bare space to this lush flourishing garden.
It's hard to believe that the garden was such a lifeless space.
Now a haven for not only me but all the birdlife and possums that come to the garden
A dream fulfilled ......

With Not Only....

With not only a full moon in two days but also a lunar eclipse the energy around at the moment is more chaotic than normal.
This year has certainly been one of many changes and challenges for me, and a time of great shifts for humanity and society in general.
For me this has been a year of transformation, of letting go of fear, and seeing what is really important.
This full moon is about transformation, focusing on what no longer serves and letting it go.
Interestingly enough I began working with an acupuncture therapist a few weeks ago and this is what I am focusing on, letting go of trapped energy in the body and mind.
Freeing the heart and freeing the soul.
I realised on an intrinsic level that the body really did need to become balanced as this year closes, to reclaim inner harmony and move forward into 2021 with a lightness of spirit......

Finishing The Day....

Finishing the day yesterday in the garden.
Admiring the new growth on one of my gum trees, the pink of the new leaves such a contrast to the older leaves.
A bronzewing sitting on the fence as I approached and not flying off was a first. They are such shy birds normally.
I really appreciated the way the garden has transformed and changed over this past year.
Everything suddenly got so big, at the end of last summer I could still see the cottage from any part of the back garden, now it is mostly hidden from view.
The chickens and birds have such a haven to enjoy, as do I.
The family of pink and grey galahs arrived again to enjoy the seed pods dangling from many a tree.
It still amazes me at how they can disappear amongst the foliage despite their bright plumage.

It has taken years to get the garden established, and it is only just beginning to flourish. I am finding the more the garden grows the more time I spend just sitting and being in this place of peace, wonder and life.....
