Setting off in between showers on a chilly winter's afternoon. A new walking trail discovered. Surprised to see that some of the wildflowers are already in bloom, and to my delight some that I had not seen before. Many of the wildflowers in the Perth region will be found only in one particular place, and often never anywhere else in Australia. This is why I despair at the continued destruction of natural bushlands for more unneeded housing estates. Destroying the land never makes sense when there are plenty of areas that builders could revamp.
Along the trails there were so many fairy wrens, and yellow rumped thornbills. Both of these birds are tiny. In some of the photos you will see a fairy wren in a tree, Not much bigger than a honky nut dangling above it's wee body. Hard to spot in the trees. The one coming in to land was a magical capture. The yellow rumped thornbills on the ground were difficult to photograph as they are also so tiny. See If you can spot them in the four photos of them on the ground. As I walked the yellow rumped thornbills kept flying ahead of me, almost like an escort. Very special.
There was a very interesting ridge of rocks in the distance, that is a walk for another day of exploration.......
