Tiny Possum Footprints.......

Tiny possum footprints left an interesting pattern on the damp sand. Not far away a striking kookaburra was watching something moving in the long winter grass. Although stunning birds with a jolly laughing call these birds are rather nasty predators. A couple of nesting honeyeaters came and shooed him away, even on the fence he was too much of a threat.

Next I came across the happiest dog of the day, playing ball in the water by herself. I think she may be part hippopotamus by the way she stuck her whole head under the water. She had such a gleeful energy and had me laughing at her antics.

A few more water birds seen going about their business, some rainbow lorikeets snacking on flowers. But the thrill of the morning was seeing some western long necked turtles. The sun was really bright so it was really difficult to get clear photos of these strange looking turtles as they glided through the murky water.......
