Ending The Day....

Ending the day with a walk around the garden yesterday afternoon, like in the bush plants are waking up an indication that spring is on it's way. The mulberry tree has had a growth spurt and is already beginning to fruit. I enjoy picking a handful of mulberries as I walk around the garden.

There were plenty of bird visitors a little snack had been thrown out for them.  The rose chested cockatoos are comical little things. Telling male from female is easy as the males have brown eyes while the females have a pinky coloured eye. It is heartwarming to see the different species of birds enjoying a bit of seed without and fighting or dominance.

My resident ducks have taken to waddling around after me like the chickens do, very trusting. Mind you they know I am the keeper of the seed. Their nightly ritual is to follow me down when I lock the chickens in for the night as they know that they will be given a handful of seed. This will keep them warm for the night. Giving the chickens and ducks something at the end of the day keeps them warm on a cold night as while their digestive system is working their body temperature is higher which is needed on cold winter nights.....
