Returning to Piesse Brook yesterday and continuing my exploration of this amazing path that leads to rocky pool. With limited time I still didn't quite make it to the rock pools, however am very inspired to do so in the next week or so.
Being in a gully with towering ridges each side the views are spectacular. Even here on the track nearly at the bottom of the gully there are still several parts where there are steep inclines down to the water. There is so much to explore here. Such a beautiful place bird song filling the air and the warm sunshine backlighting the bush adding a softness to foliage.
A challenging hike as not only are some of the hills steep you also have to contend with the loose gravel which is very slippery. It is certainly not I place I would visit in the hotter months, I will however be coming here in the cooler months each year.
I spotted a few breeding pairs of rose chested cockatoos and ring necked parrots. These birds use the hollows in trees to nest. The parents standing guard on the branches. A massive wedge tail eagle was seen gliding slowly on the lookout for a meal. Perhaps too it has young to rear.
Flowers and boulders and the landscape in general provided so many wonderful views. At times I simply had to stop and soak up the raw beauty of this truly special place.......
