Yesterday's beautiful weather had the chicken folk indulging in a late afternoon dust bath.
Dust baths are always a group activity.
Rolling in the dirt helps keep the chickens clean and mite free.
Digging in the freshly weeded garden bed they rolled in the soil flapping dirt over themselves before settling for a moment of relaxing in the sun.
With the dust bath done they strolled off to forage for treats before being put away for the night.
Little Pearl my feather footed bantam is missing Nova the two being much smaller than the standard chickens usually spend all their time together, she will have to wait a few more weeks to spend time with Nova once again. Nova and her brood will remain in the safety of the cat enclosure until the chicks are fully feathered and then they will be ready to join the rest of the flock in exploring the great outdoors.......

It's that tenth shot that's my favourite.
