Heading Out To Explore...

Heading out to explore a section of Korung National Park which is located in Pickering Brook a 39 km drive from the cottage. I haven't ventured here before and look forward to coming back as there are lots of tracks to investigate.
Already after a few good downpours of rain the forest was lush and green. There were also a few flowers out, and there were lots beginning to bud up. The forest has been recovering from a fire, I am not sure how long ago it was, the burnt-out trees a sad reminder of the devastation fires cause. I could hear a lot of small birds chirping from the canopies, yet none were seen.
The vegetation here is far different to that near where I live, the understory looking like a grassy meadow which in places was very dense. Seeing some bracken was a surprise I will come back here in a few more weeks once the rains have set in and the luxuriant winter months have revived the forest. Even this early in the autumn it was wonderful seeing such a fertility in the forest...
