Stumbling Across...

Stumbling across this very relaxing cafe during the week I stopped to enjoy a mid-afternoon break. Being the only one frequenting the cafe I was able to soak up the ambient atmosphere.

The owner came out to have a chat and pointed out a willy wagtail nest in one of the branches overhanging the water.
There was a pair of kookaburras attempting to shift mum off the nest, their eyes on her chicks. But dad was absolutely ferocious as he attacked the much larger kookaburras, they left defeated.
Life for young chicks is a battle to survive from the time the eggs are laid, getting to adulthood for small birds and ducks is a miraculous accomplishment.

As well as seeing the nesting willy wagtail there was also a sighting of one of the snake necked turtles which dwell in the small lake.
Having these present is a sign of a healthy water environment.
They are extremely difficult to photograph when in the water, I did include a couple of photos.

I will definitely be returning to this lovely cafe; it really is such a welcoming place..
