The Ever hungry...

The ever hungry rose chested cockatoos were eagerly waiting for the chickens to be let out this morning.
They were a little disappointed as I was lingering until the chickens had all eaten their breakfast, which meant less for them. They need to teach their chicks to forage and not become dependent on a human for food.
Although not as tame as many of the other wild birds who frequent the garden, they are becoming more tolerant of my presence. They tend to be nervous birds and often in parks they are chased by children and dogs, so they are far more cautious than most other species that come to garden.
As much as I appreciate their beauty, they are rather destructive in the garden. The fledglings in particular can wreak havoc as they explore this new world they have been born into.
The morning was gentle and a welcomed change after the rain yesterday afternoon, there was a softness to the dawn which indicates that the seasons are shifting. Starting my day with such encounters and surrounded by nature really is very precious...

The great flipside of feeding them. They are photogenic.
