Off Into The Wilderness.......

Off into the wilderness I went yesterday, this time with a friend as there are no paths as such in this part of the bushland, except of course the kangaroo track. And as much as I love my solo adventures this one is not one to be done alone. Plus it was wonderful to share these vistas with another nature loving person.
At this time of the year one would normally expect water in the small stream at the base of these magnificent rock canyons. When running the water rushes through with such a force giving the appearance of small rapids. And it was that which I had hoped to see today. Sadly though the only water that was seen was a tiny pool of water in a rock uphill from the stream.
So much for autumnal rains bring the boon of water to the parched bushland.
We are in desperate need of a few good weeks of continual rain. Yet still the sun shines in a perfect blue cloudless sky.
A few times we got to places where we couldn't see a clear way through. One of us would go ahead and see if we could find a way to continue otherwise we would backtrack and seek another way. Mostly we were successful.
Many of the huge boulders were so fascinating, given how they were perched precariously on top of another, some defying all logic as to how they remained in place.
This bush was silent and felt so beautifully ancient. Being in the presence of these massive rock outcrops was truly humbling.
They stand as they have always stood, untouched by the destructive nature of the humans.
A place of raw ancient beauty which I pray remains this way forever.......
