Yesterday ended as it began with admiring the bird visitors to the garden. The light is better in the evenings than in the morning to capture these beautiful birds. The chickens were happy foraging for bugs and were happily clucking as they fed. So nice hearing the constant conversations with the birds and chickens as they all go about their day. Observing the intimate relationships these creatures have is humbling. They are extremely intelligent and form very deep bonds. It is always stressful for me to see a bird of any sort locked in a cage unable to fly and forage. Thankfully the hordes of feathered beauties that visit my garden are free to live as nature intended.
A baby raven was distressed alone in a tree as it's parents had flown off and left it. It did look a bit too young to be kicked out of the nest and it was extremely distressed calling for its parents. Thankfully mum and dad returned shortly after I went back inside and the baby didn't let them out of its sight.
Life in the wild must be distressing for the chicks when the day comes where they find themselves alone in the big wide world...
