A Tawny Frogmouth...

A tawny frogmouth up close is even more spectacular than when spotted in a tree.
This one is being used to educate the public, a bit stressful for the little fellow I am sure, he should have been sleeping not in a shopping centre.

Tawny frogmouths are not owls, as many think. They are really unique bird's native to Australia.
They are known for being the worst nest builders, and often their chicks can fall to the ground due to their lack of securing a sturdy nest.
Tawny frogmouths mate for life, and they are besotted with each other and thus make somewhat bad parents. There have been documented accounts of tawny frogmouths crying after the loss of a mate.
They have amazing camouflage skills and will even spray their predators with faeces.
They can be in plain sight during the day as they sleep, yet due to their ability to disguise themselves they are not easy to spot in the wild...
