Not allowing a little drizzle to dampen my enthusiasm I set off once again to explore more of Piesse Brook, this time parking at the entrance and meandering back to the stunning rock waterfall I discovered on the first visit. The sky in one direction showed glimpses of blue and luckily the rain held off.
The serenity of this place embraces you the minute you exit the car. There is a softness that infuses itself into the soul. Following the brook as much as I could I was definitely not disappointed with the natural beauty. Over the little brook I saw several fallen trees that despite being uprooted were beginning to sprout new growth. The large trunks providing little bridges across the stream. When these new branches grow taller it will limit the ability to scurry across. The water of the brook is so clear, at times there was a aquamarine hue to the water. The surrounding bushland in a word, stunning. This place really oozes beauty.
Coming across a few fruit trees in flower and what looked liked remnants of a dwelling a fellow walker explained that there was once a homestead here, a devastating bushfire in the 1940's burnt it to the ground leaving only the fruit trees and a few conifers in its wake. It also looked as if these people had dammed the brook, thankfully though this has been dismantled and the brook flows freely once again.
Once at the rock waterfall I took the time to sit and to be, soaking up the ambience of this magnificent piece of Gaia.......
