Ducklings are always a joyous sight to see, and to see such a large family is impressive given the amount of predators the parents have to contend with. Ten little ducklings were happily feasting in the grass as their watchful parents kept an eye on them. Not wanting to stress the parents I admired them from a distance whilst being pursued by three other ducks who seemed convinced I was the bringer of food. Despite no tasty morsels appearing they did follow me around the lake, ever hopeful I expect that some barely or wheat many make an appearance.
The small lake had flooded over the parkland surrounding it after the winter rains making a pleasing vista. Many trees were surrounded by water giving the waterbirds some great protection as their leafy canopies dangled in the water.
I appreciated the reflections on the water as they mirror the beauty of the trees in the gently rippling water. A beautiful place for a short meander or for a picnic or maybe just a place to sit and watch life at the lake......
