Little Pearl have been laid to rest in the garden with a starry night planted above her. Starry night is a variety of tea tree which will have tiny white flowers each spring. The white flowers will be a reminder of her each year.
Sadly even though I showed Aslan and the other hens Pearl before I buried her, Aslan has wandered around the garden today crowing, calling to her. He and Lily have spent most of the day around the cat carrier Pearl was in yesterday, clearly mourning her loss as deeply as I am.
Chickens form such strong bonds and it normally takes them a while to get over the passing of one of the flock.......
