The grevillea nectar bar being enjoyed by a new holland honeyeater, while one of its babies watches from a nearby perch. I have two families of these, one in the front garden and one in the back. The habitat I have created means that they are successfully breeding a couple of times per year. They know that the garden is a safe haven, and predators limited.
Given that it is still unseasonably hot when I water the garden in the afternoon the current families come for a quick bath under the spray from the hose. The fact that these tiny birds feel safe enough to come so close to me is priceless......
