Yesterday's visit to Lake Leschenaultia with my camera once again, I wanted to get some photos of the unusual fungi I discovered the previous day.
As luck would have it, I stumbled across several more species of fungi, which strangely enough I missed, even though I followed the exact same route as the day before.
Half way around the lake I had a special moment with a splendid fairy wren.
They are magical little birds. The males turn a vibrant blue during mating season. This little chap was still in the process of turning. I took a couple of photos from a distance so those not familiar with Western Australian birds could see how tiny they are.
I was also lucky enough to see one white bunny orchid. Seeing native orchids is another rather thrilling happening for me, no matter how often I find them.
I also saw an extraordinary spider web, or cocoon. I couldn't quite make out what it was. I took a few shots from different angles. But this still didn't give me any more clues
I also managed to encounter another grey fantail towards the end of my meandering, this one though wasn't fanning it's tail out like the one I saw yesterday.
And perhaps the most curious sighting was of a lone ant, walking along the waters edge...

Wow! You've definitely captured the essence of Autumn! What a truly beautiful season, with all it's colours and changes...
I love how you see (and capture) the little things that most people don't notice. A beautiful post Gem!
PS - How is that tree still standing?!

My goodness, you found a lot of interesting mushrooms. That color of blue on that bird is so striking. And, I love the angels floating in the sky.
