Seeing kangaroo's was the intention I set for this mornings walk.
And seeing kangaroo's I did midway through my stroll.
Taking a path heading away from the lake, to an area I know kangaroos are usually found early in the morning.
It's always fairly quiet up on this path, especially on such a cold and rainy day.
This time of year it's mushrooms that I long to see, as the rains bring them out.
And I wasn't disappointed.
This walk is a favourite as there are a lot of grass trees; grass trees are unique ancient plants only found in Australia.
They have a presence about them that I find calming, yet at the same time there's an air of wisdom that radiates from them. Some of them are hundreds of years old, and as they age their skirts can lengthen and widen, giving them an imposing presence.
After meandering through the grass trees I encountered two flyers with their joeys nibbling on the succulent fresh new grass shoots.
They noticed me first, I was scanning the bush for them, as you can see they blend in with their surroundings extremely well.
I often get the feeling when out in the bush that I am being watched. And normally, if I stop and scan the horizon, I will see a little kangaroo face gazing at me through the foliage.
You have to be quiet if you wish to see them as they bound off swiftly.
Kangaroos are such gorgeous beings, and an encounter with them is always enchanting...
