First flowers on this hakea bush have been a long time coming.
Four years in fact.
This hakea has been in the garden since 2016 and has not produced a single bloom until this year.
So much different to the pincushion hakeas I have in the garden, these flower from the branches.
The leaves are much like that of a pine tree, very spiky, and the flowers rather similar to many grevilleas.
As always I was filled with joy at finally seeing this plant bloom, and as with all the native flowers of the garden the nectar will entice new birds in with their delectable scent wafting out on the breeze.....
