With the rain comes the flowers. The garden has been waiting for a drenching from the heavens. Although I water throughout the summer it is the rains that really hydrate the plants. There is something more nourishing about rain. I swear I can see the garden smiling this afternoon after a drenching last night. Everything feels so light and refreshed.
With the rain also comes the birds, today has been the busiest day in the garden for a few weeks. The ducks are still flying in and out daily but are normally gone by mid morning. The rose chested cockatoos are now frequenting the garden in the afternoons. The bronzewings and ring necked parrots are in the garden all year round.
The chickens are moulting and looking rather funny with feathers missing. To give them something to do I moved some of the old garden chairs around to give them different perching positions.
The return of the cooler grey days means that the garden is coming to life once again after laying dormant with the intense heat of the summer months where everything tries to cling to life as the relentless heat scorches them day after day.........
