Birds And Clouds.......

Birds and clouds, sprouting seedlings and buds waiting to unfold brought magic to my monday morning.
A cheeky willy wagtail the largest of the western australian fantalis was hunting for insects amongst the chickens morning food treats. Such stunning little birds.

In the gardens lookout tree a butcher bird was on the hunt, taking this vantage spot looking for prey. They are gruesome hunters which is why they have such a name and I am not going in to details as to what they do Apart from being lethal hunters they are also known for their surprisingly beautiful song.

Next on top of the lookout tree was a magpie lark, or pee wee lark as they are often referred as. These birds will mate for life. They do not like seeing their reflection in a window or mirror and will try to attack the intruder to their territory, not realising it is their own reflection. They also like to nest in the same tree as willy wagtails. Haven't been able to find out why. But I guess us mere humans could never really understand the wonders of nature. We can merely assume why other creatures do as they do.

Clouds began to drift across the sky during the morning, some looking promising. However still no rain has fallen today and when the sun is out it still has a biting sting to it. Hurry up winter winds and rains!

The seeds are beginning to sprout in the meadow. I am watering this space daily to keep them moist and alive. The orange tree is not alone in this once seldom visited pocket of the garden and I am sure feeling more comfortable with my regular visits, I am pretty sure even plants get lonely. After a feed the leaves returning to a glossy green, hopefully she will fruit this season. In a few weeks this area will be a sea of green which will shortly be followed by a mass of colourful flowers and vegetables herbs and bees after being left as a unused space for too long.

Unlike the the winters in the northern hemisphere the autumn and winter brings the native plants alive. Flowers begin to brighten the bushlands from autumn beginning with the yellow pom pom flowers of the acacias. I have several in my garden which bring such a happy vibe after this particularly long hot and intensely dry summer. The silver princess eucalyptus tree has many buds waiting to bring their beauty to the garden also.
Nature truly is the Queen of the earth......

The birds make very good company to have around.
