Pincushion Hakeas.......

Pincushion hakeas are by far one of my most favourite native flowers. And each autumn I wait in anticipation for the three trees in my garden to begin their slow and graceful blooming.
The unfolding of the flowers is a slow process.
They are covered by soft white furry caps which pop off when the sun warms the flowers enough to begin this spectacular flowering process.
As the flowers slowly unfold they transform gradually until they are in full perfect bloom.
Bees and ants as well as many birds flock to the flowers to feast on delicious succulent nectar.
And I am marvelled each day by the graceful beauty of these fabulous unique flowers......
