Discovering a cicada exoskeleton as I walked in the garden this morning. As always I took time to take in every detail before laying it back to rest in the garden.
The moulting season has obviously begun so I might find more of these discarded skins in the garden as apparently they molt in groups. Such fascinating creatures and the cicada call is something that goes hand in hand with the fiercely hot Australian summers.........

I think we fall out of the range of their North American counterparts.
I guess it would too cold? You would have other insects not found in hotter countries though.
