In The Warm Sunshine ....

In the warm sunshine walking along a red dirt road decorated with the bright burst of yellow from acacia flowers against a clear blue sky is a true image of a Western Australian Spring day.

Bliss!

Heading for Bells Rapids before the heat once again evaporates the water almost completely out of this still raging river.  In the summer months often there is but a puddle left as a dormant reminder that the dusty riverbed once actually held water rough and untamed.
The water level of the river already much lower than when I visited a month ago. The dangers that lurk underneath the rapids when the river is full rising up once more as the days grow ever warmer.
Seeing these mega boulders surging upward always brings me a fascination.
These ancient ones that hold the legends of the land before the rainbow serpent danced its way through the landscape leaving the river in its wake.
Those who know the river in all the seasons know what lurks beneath the raging winter waters.
How unforgiving she is.
A deep respect for this mighty river is given in sacred silent acknowledgement each time I walk this part of the country.

The bushland was humming and is regenerating beautifully after the devastating fire that bought such pain to the land last summer.
Many of the trees are proudly boasting a collection of bushy young branches, all so untainted and succulent against the blacked bark of their mother tree.
Many things held me entranced on my slow meander, however it was the sound of the gushing water that my soul yearned to hear and to see.......

The difference in the rapids in just one month is amazing.
