Noticing that my yucca plants are in flower I went to try to get a closeup of the flowers, but I actually interrupted a new holland honeyeater from building a nest.
How exciting!
Twig in beak he plonked himself on a leaf watching me.
Very smart little bird as it didn't want to give away where the nest site is.
I was going to go back with a ladder to climb up to get a closer view of these flowers as they tower above me and can never get a good close up shot. But, given there is a nest being constructed here I don't think I will be doing so this year at least.
The yucca's have grown into their own little environment, I don't cut them back I have allowed them to become a safe haven for birds and other creatures. In the other yucca growing near the chickens night box a family of mice live in amongst the leaves, pretty sure all sorts live in this bigger clump of yuccas too......

It appears the bird has made its decision.
Indeed he has. Will have to keep an eye on how things progress.
