With Brulee going stir crazy separated from the rest of the flock I decided to let mum and baby out of their day pen to be with the rest of their family.
With Gaia being such a feisty little chick I figured she would be okay, so since Saturday they have been out and enjoying the garden without a hitch.
Gaia still likes to ride around on either mum or dad which always makes me laugh, she will happily jump from one parent to the other and sit there for a while as they walk around the garden and she always does it when I don't have a camera handy.
Seeing the deep maternal bonds a hen has with her young is truly a beautiful thing to share, and little Gaia is very lucky to have arrived in a place where she will enjoy freedom for her entire life.
Gaia does not tend to venture far from mum and really enjoys learning to have a dust bath, often she is covered in so much dust that her creamy coloured feathers look a dusty shade grey.
Being just over two weeks old she is an inquisitive explorer who has fitted into the flock without any problems at all.......

It won't take Gaia long to start really growing.
