Yesterday after work I went to collect this little lady, with her sister passing away the owners did not want to get any more chickens to keep her company so I was asked if I would take her.
Silly question!
Apart from her comb being a little inflamed and drooping to one side she seems to be in good health.
She sat ever so quietly in the cage as we drove to her new forever home, not a peep was uttered during the hour long drive to get her home.
Aslan was immediately inquisitive with the arrival of yet another hen for his harem of doting girls.
Keeping her in the separate cage until it got dark, Aslan kept coming up with bugs and bits of grass which he could not give to her as she was safely out of reach until it was dark enough to place her inside the night coop to join her new family.
Once I placed her inside Aslan immediately called to her and she went up to him and snuggled under his neck.
Suddenly I have seven chickens, and they are all so different and the brood is a colourful collection of varying breeds.
About to go and let her out for the first glimpse of her new home, she came from a suburban back garden so I am assuming she will find herself in chicken heaven once she gets use to her new surroundings....
