The Male Red Kangaroo...

The male red kangaroo is an enormous marsupial, the largest in the world. Males can reach a height of up to two meters, and can weigh up to 92 kgs. They can reach speeds of up to 64  kilometres and their jumping is impressive.

I saw this impression of a big red male at the Fremantle Markets which is pretty much true to life scale. The males are known for their red-brown fur (this one was a bit to orangey/yellow) whilst the females are blue-grey.

Red kangaroos are normally found in the arid and semi arid regions in Australia. They prefer open grasslands and scrubland.

As a species they are secure, however drought is a concern for their survival as is habitat loss and road accidents...
