Inspired To Look Up...

Inspired to look up while out walking I immediately understood why.
Only inches above my head was a wasp nest that seemed to be in the midst of hatching.
Of course I was fascinated.
It's not every day one stumbles across such moments.
These native paper wasps had the perfect place for building one of their thin papery nests. Luckily the leaf held in place until the wasps hatched.
They were not aggressive in the slightest, which is just as well as I would have been in trouble if they had of been.
Wasps are beneficial to the environment as they feed on nectar thus helping with pollination. They also feed insect larvae to their young which can be beneficial to those who like me don't use any chemicals or pesticides in their gardens...

That scares me to death. I thought wasps were worse than bees with aggression.

I haven't seen a wasps nest in ages. I have been stung by one many years ago but I agree, if you leave them alone they will leave you alone.

Fascinating and beautiful. Be careful, dear Gemel, wasps can be very aggressive!
