Gardens Are.....

Gardens are the most amazing places.
Those of us who love to get our hands in the soil planting and tending to our natural havens see a side of the world those who favour plastic grass and brick paving never seem to see.
Unlike those who surround their homes with no plant life we see the astounding world of life everywhere we turn.
Flowers bursting into a colourful display against the sky, their subtle perfumes filling the air, their colours coming in so many different shades and shapes, from the wattle trees with their delicate tiny soft ball like flowers to the tall and striking banksia looking more like candles as they open under the warmth of the sun.
Seeds pods providing food for the birds and tiny marsupials that live in the gardens, nectar and pollen feeding the bees, birds and other insects that fly in searching for the source of the tantalising aromas they sense drifting on the breeze.
There are delicate homes of many spiders woven in branches all over the place, some so artistically constructed that they fascinate me each and every time when I stumble upon them.
And then there is the marvelous world of fungi, popping up all over the garden, recycling the dead plant life and transforming it into food for the garden, they provide minerals and nutrients to plants as well as insects.
Gardens are a realm all of their own, a world many wander past not even acknowledging their wonder at all.
Birds bring in movement and colour and also music, each species of bird brings with it its own song. Some have a playful enchanting song, others more of a screech or if here here in Western Australia you have the laugh of the kookaburra often filling the air, the tiny blue superb fairy wrens native to where I live actually sing to their eggs before the chicks are hatched to bond with their young.
So much happens around us, everything has a consciousness out in a garden, every single organism is needed, from an ant to a tree, all play a part in the tapestry of life in the habitats they find themselves in, all working together to provide food and nourishment for each other while bringing joy, amazement and beauty to those of us aware enough to see....
