Unfortunately Charlie hasn't responded to antihistamines so like I was beginning to expect it isn't an allergy, but perhaps a stress related issue.
He is still biting the hair on his legs giving himself a buzz cut, bless his heart. So he now has a course of mild sedatives to calm him down. The suggestion was that he has separation anxiety.
He was relaxed but not overly sleepy after his first dose. I didn't seem him over groom himself at all yesterday so I am trusting this will work. The aim is to calm him down for a period of time to stop the habit of excessive grooming, then I can ease of the herbal tablets......
