A single autumnal leaf drew my attention, memories of the glorious northern hemisphere autumns of brisk winds and scenes of turning trees swelled in my mind.
Here though, the stunning display of nature beginning to slumber are not found.
Autumn here is not a prelude to bare trees and snowy landscapes, here winter is a time of lavish explosions of colour and life as the cooler months bring rains to nourish the land.
Well, we hope for this scenario!
Wandering lazily down the pathway towards the incessant chattering from a family of rainbow lorikeets feasting on lilly pilly fruit I was brought back to the present.
Under the canopy the noise was very intense as the excited flock devoured the tiny red fruits.
Their vibrant feathers making a striking contrast against the leaves of the tree.
Heading back to the car a single heron and a pair of ducks were enjoying the quieter surrounds of the water, a calmer vibe surrounding me as I ambled on...
