A pair of ringneck parrots enjoying a snack of seed pods in the front garden.
The garden offers a variety of native seeds that provides a generous harvest every year. Each year I say the say thing to myself, that I will collect some of the acacia seeds and roast them. And each year the parrots beat me to them, devouring all the seeds in a matter of days.
Traditionally the seeds were dried, roasted and ground down into a power and used as a flour. Having done my research I know my seeds are safe for humans, there is over 700 varieties of acacia (wattleseed) in Australia and some are poisonous so one must be careful.....
