A mid morning meander around the garden checking water bowls and watching my contented flock of chickens.
Aslan being his regal self as he keeps watch over his harem. His gentle nature makes him the ideal garden rooster as he has never been aggressive to me or his hens. The girls were all over the garden doing this and that. It was lovely to see Nova relaxing with her two now adult babies. She is the smaller of the trio, the chicks grew to be a little bigger than their mother and have the fluffy heads like their father.
A couple of magpies came to grab some food for their chicks. They tend to fly in and out over the course of the day with the demands of rearing young chicks. They will come and sing at the back door if there is nothing left, serenading me to let me know that they are hungry.
There was also a group of bronzewings enjoying one of the birdbaths. Like with the chickens and ducks there seems to be a pecking order for bath time. No squabbling they simply wait their turn.
Such a relaxing morning, the sun beginning to warm everything up after a few deliciously cooler days. A very pleasant way to spend a lazy Sunday morning.......
