Beginning my journey with the runes that were gifted to me has taken time.
I found it couldn't be rushed or forced it had to occur in a flowing natural way.
I had tried to connect with them one at a time focusing on the first one in the rune alphabet however it was not feeling right so I placed the bag on my altar and allowed them to rest there until I felt them calling.
Three nights ago I was once again called to place the velvet bag containing the runes beneath my pillow as I slept.
On waking I placed my hand into the bag and allowed my fingers to find the stone that was beckoning me to find it.
Interestingly enough it was Raidho/Rad, the cartwheel, the wheel of life, the chariot of Thor, the journey.
I have discovered that there are so many interpretations of what the runes mean and although I have sought to find a book from a Norse writer on Runes I have yet to locate one that seems appropriate for me as most are written by Westerners who have placed their own take on the runes somehow distorting the truth of the stones.
I have kept the rune close to me, connecting to it throughout the day and night feeling in to what it wished to convey to me.
What came to me was about connection, the journey of life, that life should flow like a river letting go of anything that does not serve me to go floating away on the current of life.
This rune is about evolving, of changes that will bring positive outcomes with them no matter the situation.
What was most present in my mind was looking at life's lessons, of what the lessons have taught me and to go with the flow.
Interestingly enough I have been sitting in nature a lot recently considering the necessity of flowing with life, of not allowing another person/persons/situation take you off course.
I also recognised that life is also about cycles.
Changes and transitions.
Of growth.
If we stay stagnate like water cut off from the river then all manner of things appear to go wrong, however if we simply trust in life and learn to navigate the flow around us then swiftly life begins to take on a calm and exciting feel.
Learning to not take life too seriously was a great lesson for me.
And this somehow was conveyed to me through Raidho as it nestled against my body.
We need to learn to be true to our self first and foremost.
To not interfere into others lives, to not make judgements and place demands on them if we do not get what we want from them.
We need to allow the ego to retreat and instead allow the heart to return and to lead the way into the future.
Raidho is about change and progress.
Of new things to come of synchronicity and coincidences becoming the normal occurrence in our lives once again.
It is about things happening fast.
Favourable changes in health, of increased energy and evolution.
Of overcoming whatever seems to be blocking our path.
To me this was the perfect rune to begin with, but I guess the stones knew that!
Coming out of a period of chronic illness and isolation where I had delved into the dense dark energy of the past that had sought to keep me a sleeping prisoner in it's icky energy I have worked hard to free myself of it's hold.
The gift of these rune stones was unexpected and so very precious.
A gift of magic and of a connection to the past wisdom's of a culture long lost yet somehow so familiar to me.
What I have discovered is that the runes if used correctly connect you to nature, and given that these stones were given by the sea, collected with love and given with an open heart I know that the journey we have now began is going to be one of harmony and love........
