I was absolutely delighted to get some photographs of this black-faced cuckoo shrike, interestingly these birds are neither a shrike or a cuckoo. Apparently it's they have similar feathers to a cuckoo, and their beak resembles that of a shrike. They are also referred to as blue jays or shufflewings too.
This one was hunting something on the ground, so I was able to sneak up slowly and observe this beauty without it flying off.
Although these birds are fairly common, it's the first time I've ever come across one, which is interesting as they tend to live in large flocks...

I looked up the cuckoo shrike - you sure were blessed to find one and get a photo of him. He did look awesome.
