Returning to my car yesterday I noticed this little one struggling on the ground. I immediately went to see what was wrong. It didn't appear to have any injuries, but was really struggling. I popped him in a bag and did a Google search for the nearest vet. Unfortunately, I didn't make it in time as he took his final breath in my hands as I walked through the door at the vet.
It really broke my heart, so close...yet, not close enough. The vet thought it was more than likely heat exhaustion.
I am glad that at least he wasn't alone when he passed, and grateful that I found myself there to assist him. It was a spare of the moment stop, which just goes to prove, that if you follow the whisperings of intuition you always end up where you are supposed to be...

Hi dear friend, he died with you there, knowing you cared. I do believe he could have died from heat 🥵 stroke. Both humans and animals are prone to getting this, especially from exposure to the heat and not staying properly hydrated.
Oh how sad. I'm so glad you were there to comfort him.
I agree - I am glad you were there with him.
