As the weather shifts towards summer the easterly winds have begun again, a sure sign that the temperature is set to rise. And as the seasons change, so to do the flowers that bloom in the garden. One of my giant strelitzers is currently in flower, the blooms so high up that I had to zoom in to capture their exquisite beauty.
Instead of having a Christmas tree inside, I have decorated one the trees in the back garden, that is visible from the front gate. The fledgling magpies like playing with the baubles, which is very amusing to watch.
There are so many quendas in the garden now, they zoom past my feet while I water, and if I am quiet, they we come to dig right next to where I stand. I am still surprised at how tiny the joeys are when they a weaned and left to fend for themselves. Thankfully, my garden offers a safe space for them to live and thrive.
This years fledgling ducklings have been brought to the garden by their parents now that they are old enough to fly. They are a little timid, yet day by day they are more relaxed when I am out in the garden. Soon, it will be far too hot to be outdoors, and my annual summer mission to keep my garden hydrated and alive begins in earnest, as does making sure that there is sufficient fresh water for all my gardens residents...
