A Short Stroll...

A short stroll along the banks of the Swan River on a chilly yet sunny day. I was impressed to see that parts of the bank have been fenced off temporarily to protect many new plants and trees which have been planted to create habitat for the water birds and perhaps protection against the erosion of the shoreline. Nesting has begun for parrots and cockatoos. These birds all nest in tree hollows. And there was a significant amount of screeching going on as I ambled along. Warnings to keep away from their nests. I also got to throw the ball for a retired red cloud kelpie.  His days on the farm now over, he is learning to live a life of luxury up in the suburbs. I think it might take some time before he stops wanting to round things up though. That is an instinct that even my sons' kelpies have, and they have never been working farm dogs. This one would require lots of stimulation as he no longer has a daily job to attend to...
