A peaceful stroll around Tomato Lake to nurture the soul was taken this week, oodles of birds were also enjoying the pleasant summers day. Corellas were making a racket in several trees, as they began to settle down for a midmorning siesta. The screeching deafening at times.
On the lake itself there was a bit more activity than when I last visited. Some birds are still brooding eggs, while other nests lay abandoned. There is something immensely calming about wandering along observing the intimate lives of birds, I find it extremely uplifting. The last time I came here the ibis were just beginning their nesting rituals, now they had albeit left. There were a few stragglers still occupying nests, but mainly it was quiet in their corner of the lake.
Towards the end of my meander, I happened across a group of willy wagtail fledglings with their parents. They were very vocal as they dashed about under the safety of a densely shaded nook, safe from the larder birds who pose a threat to these mischievous little birds....
