Taking Time...

Taking time off from work is something I intended to do more of when last year ended. After years of putting work before my own needs, I found myself weary and empty.

The first declaration I made was that going forward I would not be working anymore public holidays. After over six years of doing so I decided I needed to put myself first.

Shortly after that I decided on having regular breaks from work so I could focus on myself. Especially not having to dash out of the house five days a week.

I am currently thoroughly enjoying my second brief break from work this year.
And it's working wonders.

I deliberately promised myself there would be no driving and no phone during this period...the result is absolute bliss.

I have neglected my own enrichment and self care for over a decade by continuing to put others first.
 The result was devastating.

This year I made the decision to return to looking after myself. The kitty kids have been enjoying a week of relaxing inside and out. Snuggling down when I am reading, and keeping an eye on things while  I am cooking or gardening.

I have also been doing a six kilometre bush walk (3.73 miles) every morning.
No camera.
Just me and nature.
I have also begun to do another daily practice that stopped when I moved up to Chidlow.
That being, going to watch the sun setting every evening.
I am now heading to the lake, sitting on the sand and watching day turn into night.

Returning to me feels so empowering.
And extremely nurturing...

You are taking good care of yourself and following your goals. I don't have that power - yet.

Yes, I agree with Sharon, dear friend. And I am sure you are happy to be able to relax with them! It is important to take time and relax....and just be! Good for you! I am very happy for you.
