New growth and flowers greeted me at Lake Leschenultia towards the end of April, as the season of Djeran had reached it's halfway point.
Noongar seasons make more sense than the traditional seasons of other countries.
Djeran is the season of adulthood, the heat has abated and dew is appearing once again overnight. Whilst plants from the northern hemisphere begin to turn, native plants begin to begin growing and flowers bloom.
The kangaroos, possums and quendas will be getting a thicker fluffier coat in preparation for the colder months ahead.
The snake necked turtles are seen more at this time of the year, and luckily I happened to see a few gliding through the water.
Djeran is also known as the preparation season, traditionally tribes would be preparing for the coming wet season. Storing food and making sure their mia mia (shelter) was sturdy and warm.
As the cooler days continue so does the slow wave of colour as flowers slowly begin to bloom across the bushland...

I still can't believe you find all these unique things. Was that a turtle in the water?
