An emu out for a stroll literally stopped me in my tracks yesterday.
Although they live in the bushland surrounding where I live, I rarely see one.
Emus are the second largest birds in the world, they walk up to 25 kilometres a day looking for food. Interestingly, it's the males that incubate the eggs and look after the chicks for two years. The male sits on the nest for 55 days, not moving at all in this time. He doesn't eat nor drink, or defecate either. What impressive fathers they are.
By the time I moved my car from the middle of the road, the emu had disappeared into the bushland. I was though thrilled to have seen it, even if it was for mere minutes...

Awesome.
I used to watch the Wiggles with Andy - and they sang all about them.
What a great sighting. That's something one can only see in your part of the world.
